Kyo is the 'hero' of King of Fighters, if there is such a thing. As the hero, he's just flat out more powerful than most of the other characters. The fact that he's also a fire elemental, from a long line of a secret clan of fighters (identified by a symbol of the sun), oh & also the schoolboy hunk... and well, you've got enough Xp to make even Ryu jealous. He's actually a bit of an ass in person, unless you really impress him, but still manages to acquire multiple sidekicks, of whom Shingo is by & far the most amusing. He's also made more than his share of enemies, however Iori is the only real threat SNK has bothered to mention so far.
It should also be noted that in earlier versions of KoF, Kyo had a fireball (play as per shockwave) instead of the Fire Based Rekka Ken. If you feel that it's too powerful, try replacing the flaming Rekka Ken w/ the Shockwave instead.
